keeping it simple

First post with the new CATWA HDPRO Majer Soft head!

Up until now, the only mesh head I've used for Bryn has been CATWA's Daria. It has such a distinctive shape—cartoon-elfish with huge doll eyes—and I'd grown super attached to it. I kept demo'ing and re-demo'ing the multiple Genus heads (which I use on most of my alts), hoping to make the upgrade, but none of them felt Bryn enough.

When I grabbed the Majer demo, my hopes and expectations were not high. And sure, shape-wise, I wasn't thrilled. I couldn't have looked less like me.

So why did I buy it? * shrugs* Mostly because I have poor impulse control and wanted the shiny new toy, but also because I was impressed with the hud and the gorgeous animations. Plus, I had faith that my obsessive single-mindedness wouldn't allow me to rest until I found the right skin and adjusted my shape enough to feel like me again. (I'm still not happy with my eyes, but I've come to terms with the fact that they'll never be Margaret Keane-esque with this head. sigh.)

The animations hud is as simple and user-friendly as the one that comes with CATWA's other bento heads, but the animations themselves are far more natural. I spent a solid hour playing around with it and watching myself make various faces. Because this is what I do with my Friday nights.

The style hud has been a bit trickier to figure out. But that probably has more to do with the fact that I haven't watched the tutorial video, rather than the hud's actual design. I'm a learn-by-doing kind of girl, so I've just been clicking all the buttons and adjusting all the sliders and going, "Oh hey, look at that!" If this doesn't sound like your brand of adventure, I highly recommend watching the video, as this hud has almost nothing in common with their previous one.

The only gripe I have, so far, is that the shortest lash size setting is still longer than I like, but that's a personal-preference thing, and I'm not terribly concerned about it. I'm also not in love with the few CATWA HD skins currently available, so I'm wearing an older BOM from theSkinnery. But my fingers are crossed that more creators will jump on this bandwagon ASAP. (I'm looking at you, PUMEC and Insol.)

All in all, I give this head two surprised yet satisfied thumbs up.
